Classic Tiramisu Recipe

 

This Classic Tiramisu Recipe is super easy to make and tastes so delicate with a hint of dark espresso.  The cake is made of Italian lady fingers, Italian mascarpone cheese and garnished with unsweetened cocoa powder.  This light as a cloud dessert can be served on any holidays like Christmas, Thanksgiving or birthday party.  Your guests will enjoy every bite.

I am so excited to share this Classic Tiramisu Recipe because it is part of  Fred Meyer’s Taste of Italy Event also known as #TasteofItaly on social media.  Taste of Italy is all about new products that were imported from Italy into your local Fred Meyer Stores. One of the products that I was used to make this classic tiramisu cake were Italian lady fingers and mascarpone cheese that I got from my local Fred Meyer Store.  This Classic Tiramisu Recipe is phenomenal!

To make Italian Tiramisu you will need:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 1¾ cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1¼ cup mascarpone cheese
  • 2 -7oz packages Italian Lady fingers
  • 1 cup cold espresso
  • 1 tbsp cocoa for dusting

      1. Place glass bowl over small pot with boiling water then reduce the heat to medium/low. Combine eggs and sugar and cook for 10 minutes whisking constantly.
      2. Remove from the heat and using hand mixer whip mixture for about 5 minutes on high speed or until cream is thick and has light yellow color.
      3. Add mascarpone cheese and beat until combined.
      4. In a clean mixing bowl whisk whipping cream until stiff peak forms (please don’t over whisk or else cream will turn into butter, and you don’t want that :))
      5. Using spatula carefully fold cream in the mascarpone mixture until combined.

      1. Pour cold espresso into the bowl. One at a time, dip lady fingers into the espresso (please don’t over soak them).
      2. Place soaked lady fingers in the bottom of a 9 by 9 inch baking dish or a long plate.
      3. Spread1/3 of the cream over the ladyfingers, repeat with second and third layer. Place Tiramisu cake in the refrigerator over night or at least 5 hours.
      4. Dust cocoa powder over the cake. Serve with a hot cup of coffee. Enjoy!

  • Place soaked lady fingers in the bottom of a 9 by 9 inch baking dish.
  • Spread half of the cream over the ladyfingers, repeat with second layer. Place Tiramisu cake in the refrigerator over night or at least 5 hours.
  • Dust cocoa powder over the cake. Serve with a hot cup of coffee. Enjoy!

  1. I love tiramisu and yours looks so delicious 🙂 It is something I haven’t tried making myself yet. One of those things that it always looked complicated and I was worried about messing up a good thing! Seeing how easy it is, I will be trying this soon! I just have to see about finding mascarpone cheese here by me.
