Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken thighs, and sear until brown, sear for 2 to 3 minutes per side. Remove chicken, cover and set plate to the side.
After, melt remaining butter in the same skillet (1 tablespoon). Add 5 cloves of finely minced garlic and cook stirring until fragrant, this will take about 1 minute.
Bake seared chicken thighs in the preheated oven, until chicken is no longer pink inside and the juices run clear, about 20-25 minutes, or until chicken is cooked thru.
