INGREDIENTS

– 1 cup sugar – ½ cup butter, softened – ½ cup buttermilk – 2 teaspoons vanilla extract – 2 eggs – 2 oz unsweetened baking chocolate, melted and cooled – 1¾ cups all-purpose flour – ½ teaspoon baking soda – ½ teaspoon Kosher salt

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 400F. Line a baking sheet with a parchment paper, set aside.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, using a mixer whisk sugar with softened butter, buttermilk, vanilla extract, eggs and melted unsweetened chocolate.

Step 3

Using a spatula or a spoon stir in flour, baking soda and salt.

Step 4

Using a tablespoon, place rounded tablespoon of the dough on the baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.

Step 5

Bake 8-10 minutes. Immediately remove from cookie sheet to a cooling rack and let it cool for about 30 minutes.

Step 6

Using a mixer whisk cream cheese, butter and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl on medium speed until fluffy. Gradually beat powdered sugar until light and fluffy.

Step 7

Using a frosting pipe, pipe frosting on one cookie then place another cookie on top. Roll each whoopie cookie in crushed candy cane or a garnish of your choice. Enjoy!
