Double Chocolate Chip Muffins Recipe - ready in just 30 minutes. The buttermilk makes these chocolate muffins deliciously light and moist.

  • 1 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoon buttermilk
  • 1/3 cup plus 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped nuts walnuts or hazelnuts + extra to sprinkle on top
  • 1 cup chocolate chips optional


  • Preheat the oven to 400F, then line muffin pan with paper liners.
  • In a mixing bowl sift flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, sugar, baking powder and salt. Give it a mix.
  • In different bowl whisk eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla extract.
  • Pour buttermilk mixture into flour mixture, stir until batter is just combined. Fold in nuts and chocolate chips.
  • Divide the batter among the muffin cups, sprinkle extra nuts on top.
  • Bake for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the center of the muffin.
  • Transfer muffins from the pan to the wire rack to cool. Enjoy with coffee, or tea.
