How to Make Strawberry Puff Pastry Dessert shaped as a Snowflake or a Star. Crispy puff pastry filled with strawberry jam and garnished in delicious powdered sugar.
First, line baking sheet with parchment paper. Grease parchment paper with oil or sprinkle some flour, so pastry doesn't stick to the paper (I like to use oil or melted butter). Next, thaw puff pastry and place it on a baking sheet lined with greased parchment paper.
Evenly, spread 1 cup of strawberry jam over pastry. After, add the second layer over the top. Place a circle glass over the middle of the pastry and using pizza cutter or a knife cut dough into 16 evenly spread cuts (the best way to cut the dough, is to cut in half, then cut each half in half again and again and again, until you get 16 strips).
Next, working on 2 dough strips at a time, twist each strip outwards then pinch the ends to connect 2 strips together, forming one part of the snowflake. Repeat with the rest of the strips.
Now, cover dough with plastic food wrap and let it rise for about 30 minutes. While pastry is rising, preheat the oven to 425F.
In a mixing bowl, combine 1 egg with 1 tablespoon of water and brush egg wash over the pastry. Bake for 20-22 minutes on the middle rack, or until golden color.
Remove pastry from the oven and sprinkle powdered sugar over the top. Enjoy while it's warm.
