INGREDIENTS

Step 1

Proof the yeast by combining the yeast, sugar, oil, and warm water in a bowl. Stir gently and then let it sit for a few minutes. It should start to foam. If it does nothing, it means your yeast is no longer active and you’ll need to start again with fresh yeast.

Step 2

Once foamy, add the flour and salt into the mixture and mix to combine. Then, knead the dough for 6–8 minutes. You can do this in the bowl of a stand mixer with the dough hook attachment if preferred.

Step 3

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel and let it rise for 45 minutes.

Step 4

When the dough has expanded and has had a chance to rise, transfer the ball of dough to a clean work surface. Divide the dough evenly in half and then roll each one out into an oval shape.

Step 5

Place the rolled out dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet or a large, greased cast iron skillet.

Step 6

Spread the sauce over each one, followed by the cheeses, tomato slices, fresh basil leaves, and Italian seasoning. Bake in a preheated 475°F oven for about 13-15 minutes.

Step 7

Let the flatbread pizzas cool slightly, and then slice them into pieces or serve them whole. Enjoy with a Caesar salad on the side!

Step 8

Let it cool for about 5-10 minutes because it will be piping hot! Serve with chopped parsley and enjoy!
