INGREDIENTS

In a medium mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.

In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Then, beat in the egg.

Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, alternating with adding the buttermilk. Make sure to mix well after each addition.

Step 4

Sprinkle the peaches with the remaining sugar, and then pour the batter evenly on top. Use a spatula to spread it out, if necessary.

Bake for 40-50 minutes in a preheated 350°F oven until the top is golden brown.

Step 7

Remove it from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes. It will still be nice and warm. Serve with ice cream and granola or chopped pecans.
