Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich

INGREDIENTS

– 4 hoagie rolls – 2 tablespoons butter – 1 large onion thinly sliced – 8 oz mushrooms sliced – 2 tablespoon grape seed oil – 2 lb skirt steak – 1 tablespoon Montreal Steak Seasoning – salt & pepper to taste – 8 slices provolone cheese or American cheese

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 400F. Place sliced hoagie rolls on a baking sheet and place it in the oven for about 5-10 minutes to toast the bread.

Step 2

Add 2 tablespoons of butter into the skillet and preheat to medium heat. Add 1 large thinly sliced onion and saute for 7 minutes, stirring few times.

Step 3

Into the same skillet add 8 oz of sliced mushrooms, season with salt and pepper to taste and saute for 3 -5 minutes, stirring few times. Transfer sauteed mushrooms & onion to a plate, cover with a lid to keep warm.

Step 4

Into the same skillet add 1 tablespoon of oil and preheat to high medium/heat. Once it’s hot, working in 2 batches add steak and season with 1/2 of Montreal Steak Seasoning and salt and pepper to taste.

Step 5

Cook on high heat without stirring for couple minutes, then flip on the other side and saute until its browned, about couple more minutes. Transfer to a plate, cover to keep warm. Repeat this step with the second batch of steak.

Step 6

Next, remove from the heat and stir in 6-8 slices of provolone cheese.

Step 7

Serve over toasted hoagie buns and add sauteed onion with mushrooms over the top. Enjoy!
