How to Make Mango Dragonfruit Refresher - Save money and a trip to Starbucks and learn to make this refreshing drink at home. Vibrant colors, exotic flavors, and a refreshing sip every time!

homemade Mango Dragonfruit Refresher with green tea.

This mango dragonfruit refresher recipe is the ultimate summer drink! It’s as much a staple for drinking as my grilled peaches and ice cream is for eating, all summer long!

Packed with juicy mango, exotic dragonfruit, Olipop (a prebiotic soda) and the natural antioxidants of green tea. It's fruity, refreshing, and bursting with color!

Inspired by the popular Starbucks refresher, this homemade version is even better. It's got a bold pink hue and delivers the tropical flavors, but made with real fruit and vitamins without as much added sugar. Made with a few simple ingredients, you can sip on your very own in just minutes!

    Why You’ll Love This Recipe

    • Easy to make. Brew the tea, blend the fruit, pour and serve!
    • Refreshing and flavorful. It’s sweet but not too sweet and delightfully refreshing.
    • Pretty presentation. The vibrant colors shine through! Serve this at any pink themed party!
    • Can be scaled to make more. You can double it or triple it if needed.

Ingredients for Mango and Dragonfruit Drink

Ingredients for Mango and Dragonfruit Drink
    • Mango: Make sure your mangoes are ripe. They should be sweet and juicy. You don’t want them overripe or mushy, but just ripe enough so they’re nice and flavorful.
    • Frozen dragonfruit: Using diced frozen dragonfruit will help keep the drink cold and nice and thick!
    • Green tea bags and hot water: You’ll need to steep and cool the tea separately first. Green tea is tasty, but it also is naturally caffeinated and contains antioxidants.
    • Lemon and lime soda: I use lemon and lime Olipop, but you can use your favorite lemon or lime soda.
    • Ice: For serving.
      Mint: For garnish.

How to Make Homemade Mango Dragonfruit Refresher

Step 1: Bring 8 ounces of water to a boil in a medium pot. Once it comes to a boil, remove it from the heat and place 2 green tea bags inside. Cover it with a lid and steep them for about 4-5 minutes.

Step 2: Remove the tea bags and let the tea cool to room temperature. For faster cooling, you can put it in the fridge.

Step 4: Fill each glass with ice and pour the blended fruit mixture into the glass to about ⅔ of the way full. Slowly add the soda until it reaches the top. Garnish with fresh mint leaves or lemon wedges, or both. Serve immediately and enjoy!

    Expert Tips

    • If you prefer your drink a little sweeter, you can add a drizzle of honey or agave in there.
    • Make it creamy with a bit of coconut milk or creamy cashew milk.
    • To enjoy it at its peak color and freshness, serve it right away.
    • You can use just lemon soda or lime soda if you would rather one over the other.

    Recipe FAQs

Does mango dragonfruit refresher have caffeine?

Yes, it does because green tea has caffeine. Although it is lower than other types of teas, it’s still present.

Can I use herbal tea instead of green tea in this refresher recipe?

Sure, you can! You could try your homemade dragonfruit drink with real fruit and ginger, rosehip, lemon or mint tea instead.

You could also go for a tea higher in caffeine like black tea. It’s great in my black iced tea recipe.

What does the mango dragonfruit refresher taste like?

It’s sweet and fruity with a hint of earthiness from the green tea. It’s also slightly tart from the lemon lime soda.

    Does Olipop have caffeine?

Certain flavors do, however lemon lime Olipop does not contain any caffeine.
