    • Delicious - It’s creamy, and has the combination of espresso and vanilla flavors, and you can make it as sweet as you like.

    Cooking Tips

Looking to take your morning coffee routine to the next level? Look no further!

    • Adding a pinch of cinnamon or cocoa powder can elevate the flavor profile of your coffee and make every sip a moment of pure bliss.
    • And if you've got a sweet tooth, why not try natural sweeteners such as honey, stevia, sugar, or condensed milk to give your brew that extra oomph?
    • For a velvety-smooth texture, add a splash of cream - it's the perfect complement to your favorite roast.
    • When you're in the mood for a truly indulgent treat, top it all off with a dollop of whipped cream. Whether you make your own by whipping heavy cream with a hint of sugar or opt for the ready-made store-bought version, you're sure to feel like a coffee connoisseur with every sip.

So go ahead, take that first delicious sip and start your day off right!

    Ingredients Needed

The ingredients are quite flexible. You can make this drink the way you like your coffee by making a few substitutions as listed below.

milk with 2 shots of espresso and protein powder on the table.
    • Milk: This adds a rich and creamy consistency and gives the powder something to dissolve into. If you prefer cream in yours, go ahead and use cream or half and half.
    • Vanilla protein powder: Use whichever brand you have on hand.
    • Espresso: You can make this ahead of time and allow it to cool to room temperature or keep it in the fridge. Swap with strong brewed coffee if preferred.
    • Ice cubes: Wouldn’t be an iced coffee without ice!
    • Sweetener: Use whatever type of sweetener you enjoy in your coffee. Maple syrup is always a nice option, but you can also use regular sugar, stevia, erythritol, etc.

Step 1: Combine milk and protein powder into a mason jar. I always find protein powder dissolves better when the liquid is added first.

Step 2: Cover the jar with a lid and shake until it is combined.

Step 3: Grab a tall glass, add the ice cubes, and then pour the protein powder and milk mixture over the ice and stir in your espresso. Enjoy!

    Recipe FAQs

Does coffee have protein in it?

Not enough that it’s worth mentioning. It is such a tiny amount that the answer is still no!

Can you put protein powder in coffee?

Absolutely. If you find it’s not blending enough for your liking, you may want to use a milk frother or hand blender if you have one.

Can I use a protein shake instead?

Yes, you can. A protein shake is a great idea if you already have them on hand. It’s also nice that they are already creamy as is. With both protein powders and protein shakes, I highly recommend checking out the ingredients.

They are not all created equal. Try looking for plant-based proteins that don’t contain a lot of processed chemicals.

How can I make this protein coffee recipe dairy-free?

For sure! Swap the milk for dairy-free milk like almond milk, coconut or oat milk. You can even use vanilla almond milk for extra flavor.

To keep it dairy-free, you would need to check to make sure your protein powder doesn’t contain any dairy.
