- Adjust this recipe by adding ingredients or spices that you like to add in soups like chopped celery or turmeric spice.
- Store leftover soup in the pot with a lid inside the fridge for up to 3 days.
How to make Split Pea Soup?
Add split peas, bring it to a boil and cook for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, using a skillet, saute bacon for 5 minutes on medium heat. Then add chopped onion and carrot and saute for 10 more min. Remove the bacon grease if you want.
Add saute bacon and onion to the pot with cubed potatoes, bay leaves, salt and pepper.
Cook for about 5-10 minutes or until potato is soft. Serve with freshly chopped dill or any greens of your choice (I used frozen chopped organic dill). Enjoy!
How to make Instant Pot Split Pea Soup?
Quick Release the Pressure. Transfer turkey wings on to a cutting board and cut the meat into bite size pieces, then return it back into the pot. Add 1 cup of split peas, 3 cups of potatoes, 2-3 bay leaves and one cubed carrot.
Cover the lid & place steam valve in a sealing position,and cook on high pressure or SOUP/BROTH mode for another 15 minutes.

- 1 lb smoked turkey wings I get them at Winco
- 6 strips bacon cut into small pieces
- 1 onion chopped
- 1 cup yellow split peas washed
- 3 cups potato cubed
- 1 carrot cubed or grated
- 2 bay leaves
- salt & pepper to taste
- fresh dill chopped

How to make Split Pea Soup on the Stove?
- Place smoked turkey wing into big pot with 8-10 cups of water, bring it to a boil and cook on medium heat for 30-40 minutes.
- Remove the turkey wings and cut them into bite size pieces then return it back to the pot.
- Add 1 cup of split peas, bring it to a boil and cook for 30 minutes.

- To make split pea soup inside Instant Pot (this is the one I have and use!) first turn it ON on saute mode. Add bacon pieces and saute for 5 minutes, stirring few times.
- Next, add onion and saute for 5-10 minutes or until onion is soft. Transfer to a plate.
- Pour 8 cups of water into the Instant Pot and add smoked turkey wings. Cover the lid & place steam valve in a sealing position,and cook on high pressure or SOUP/BROTH mode for about 15 minutes.
- Quick Release the Pressure. Transfer turkey wings on to a cutting board and cut the meat into bite size pieces, then return it back into the pot.
