    Why This Recipe Works

I make these Air Fryer Salmon Bites all the time because they’re quick, flavorful, and always turn out just right. Here’s what makes them special:

    • Bold Cajun Flavor: The Cajun seasoning gives the salmon a smoky, spicy edge that’s hard to beat. It’s the same bold flavor I love in these Tik Tok Salmon Bites.
    • Crispy Outside, Tender Inside: The air fryer does all the work here. You get golden, crisp edges while the salmon stays soft and flaky in the middle.
    • Creamy, Tangy Dip: That quick sauce – mayo, sriracha, and lime juice—brings everything together. It’s creamy with just enough heat to balance the spice.
    • Fast and Fuss-Free: From start to finish, this recipe takes under 20 minutes. It’s perfect for busy nights when you still want something fresh and homemade.
    • Versatile and Fun to Serve: These bites work as an appetizer, snack, or light meal. They’re just as easy to dress up for guests as they are to enjoy on a weeknight, kind of like these Cucumber Appetizer Bites with Salmon.

    Ingredients

A plate of cubed salmon with small bowls containing mayonnaise, oil, spices, hot sauce, lime, and ketchup, all labeled on a light background.
    • Salmon Fillet – The base of this recipe, salmon is rich, tender, and cooks quickly in the air fryer. I use skinless fillets cut into 1-inch cubes for even cooking. You can use fresh or thawed frozen salmon.
    • Cajun Seasoning – Adds smoky, spicy flavor that gives the salmon its bold taste. Adjust the amount to your spice preference or swap for blackened seasoning if you like it milder.
    • Garlic Powder – Brings a warm, savory note that complements the Cajun spices without overpowering the salmon.
    • Onion Powder – Adds a subtle sweetness and depth of flavor that rounds out the seasoning mix.
    • Mayonnaise – The creamy base for the dipping sauce. It balances the spice and adds richness. You can use Greek yogurt for a lighter option.
    • Ketchup – Adds a touch of sweetness and tang to the sauce, helping balance the heat from the sriracha.
    • Sriracha – Brings a bit of spice and depth to the creamy dip. Adjust the amount depending on how much heat you like.
    • Lime Juice – Adds brightness and a little acidity that freshens up both the sauce and the salmon. Lemon juice works in a pinch.

    Substitutions & Variations

Here are some of my favorite substitutions and variations:

    • Seasoning Options: I love using Cajun seasoning for its smoky spice, but you can swap it for lemon pepper, teriyaki glaze, or a simple mix of salt, garlic, and paprika. Each gives the salmon a totally different vibe.
    • Sauce Swaps: The creamy dip is great, but you can also serve these with tartar sauce, honey mustard, or a quick yogurt dill sauce. I sometimes drizzle them with spicy mayo for extra heat.
    • Protein Alternatives: If you’re out of salmon, try this same method with cod, shrimp, or even chicken bites. Just adjust the cook time so everything stays juicy.

What to Serve with Cajun Air Fryer Salmon Bites

    Appetizers

    • These Air Fryer Salmon Bites make a great starter for any meal. We like to serve them alongside Air Fryer Deviled Eggs for a fun, bite-sized spread.
    • They also pair nicely with Cheese Potato Balls or Parmesan Zucchini Bites when we’re putting together a casual appetizer platter.
    • For something a little fresher, try them with Zucchini Fritters with Feta.

    Side Dishes

    • For a full meal, we love serving these salmon bites with a side of Air Fryer French Fries or Crispy Oven Baked Sweet Potato Fries with Dipping Sauce.
    • They’re also delicious next to a warm Baked Potato with Rosemary and Thyme or a colorful tray of Mediterranean Oven Roasted Vegetables.

    FAQs

Can I use frozen salmon for this recipe?

Yes, you can use frozen salmon as long as it’s fully thawed before cooking. Pat it dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture so the seasoning sticks and the salmon crisps up nicely in the air fryer.

What if I don’t have Cajun seasoning?

You can make a quick substitute by mixing paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and a pinch of cayenne. It won’t be exactly the same, but it will still give you a flavorful, slightly spicy coating.

Can I make these salmon bites without an air fryer?

Absolutely. You can bake them in the oven at 425°F for about 10–12 minutes or pan-sear them on medium heat until cooked through. The texture will be a little different, but still delicious.

    Is the dipping sauce spicy?

It has a mild kick from the sriracha and Cajun seasoning, but you can easily adjust the heat. Add more sriracha for extra spice or reduce it for a milder flavor.

    How long does it keep?

Store leftover salmon bites in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat them in the air fryer for 2–3 minutes at 350°F or in the microwave until warmed through. The dipping sauce can be kept in the fridge for up to 4 days.
