Ingredients

- Pasta – The base of the salad that soaks up all the creamy ranch dressing. I like using rotini because the twists hold onto the dressing, but bow tie, shells, penne, or fusilli work just as well.
- Chicken – Adds hearty protein and makes this pasta salad filling enough for lunch or dinner. I love using my Air Fryer Chicken Thighs, but rotisserie chicken or about 3 cups of cooked shredded chicken are great time-saving options.
- Bacon – Crispy bacon adds smoky, savory flavor that pairs perfectly with the creamy ranch dressing. Thick-cut bacon is my favorite, but regular bacon or turkey bacon will also work.
- Corn – Adds a pop of sweetness and color. Grilled corn gives the salad a delicious smoky flavor, but canned or thawed frozen corn are both great alternatives.
- English Cucumber – Brings a cool, refreshing crunch to every bite. Regular cucumbers work too—just peel and remove the seeds if they're large.
- Cherry Tomatoes – Add juicy freshness and a burst of color. Grape tomatoes or diced Roma tomatoes are easy substitutes.
- Red Onion – Adds a little crunch and just the right amount of sharp flavor. For a milder taste, soak the diced onion in cold water for about 10 minutes before adding it to the salad.
- Sharp Cheddar Cheese – Gives the salad a rich, cheesy bite that pairs perfectly with the ranch. You can also use Colby Jack, Monterey Jack, Pepper Jack, or a cheddar blend.
- Fresh Chives – Add a mild onion flavor and a fresh finish. Green onions make an excellent substitute if that's what you have on hand.
- Homemade Ranch Dressing – The creamy dressing that brings everything together. I highly recommend using my Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing for the best flavor, but your favorite store-bought ranch works just as good.

Substitutions & Variations
Here are some of my favorite substitutions and variations:
- Use rotisserie chicken instead of chicken thighs for an even quicker meal.
- Swap the cheese with Colby Jack, Pepper Jack, Monterey Jack, or mozzarella pearls.
- Add avocado just before serving for extra creaminess.
- Make it spicy by stirring in diced jalapeños or a pinch of cayenne pepper.
- Add more veggies like diced bell peppers, broccoli florets, peas, or sliced celery.
- Use turkey or beef bacon if that's what you have on hand.
- Lighten it up by using Greek yogurt ranch dressing.
- Add avocado ranch for even more flavor.
- Make it gluten-free by using your favorite gluten-free pasta.

FAQs
Absolutely! This pasta salad actually tastes even better after a few hours in the refrigerator. If you're planning ahead for a party, it's a great make-ahead side dish, just like my Dill Pickle Potato Salad.
My favorite is Air Fryer Chicken Thighs because they're incredibly juicy and flavorful, but rotisserie chicken is another great shortcut.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Stir in a little extra ranch dressing before serving if the pasta has absorbed some of the dressing.
Yes! While homemade ranch is my favorite, Caesar dressing or a creamy avocado dressing also work well.

Chicken Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad
Ingredients
Pasta Salad
- 12 oz pasta uncooked
- 4 chicken thighs cooked, I love to use this Air Fryer Chicken Thighs recipe or you can use 3 cups of cooked chicken
- 8 slices bacon I use thick cut slices, cooked and chopped
- 1 cup corn grilled or canned
- 1 cup English cucumber cut into 4 pieces then sliced
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes cut into 4 pieces
- 1 small red onion finely diced about ½ cup
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese cubed or grated
- ¼ cup fresh chives finely sliced
Homemade Ranch Dressing
- 1 ½ cup Ranch Dressing I like to use Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water until completely cooled.
- Cook the Bacon: Line baking sheet with parchment paper and add bacon, bake at 400F for about 12-15 minutes, or until crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate and let cool before crumbling.
- Combine the Salad: In a large serving bowl, add the cooled pasta, chicken, bacon, corn, cucumber, tomatoes, red onion, cheddar cheese, and chives.
- Add the Dressing: Pour 1¼ cups of the ranch dressing over the salad and toss until evenly coated. Add more dressing as needed to reach your desired consistency.
- Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving (100% optional).
- Serve: Toss once more before serving and drizzle with any remaining dressing if desired. Enjoy!
Notes
- Reserve some dressing for serving. Pasta absorbs dressing as it chills, so stirring in a little extra ranch before serving keeps the salad creamy.
- Cook the pasta just until al dente. Overcooked pasta can become soft after sitting in the dressing.
- Allow the pasta, chicken, bacon, and corn to cool completely before assembling the salad to prevent the dressing from becoming thin.
- Fresh herbs add the best flavor. Chives and dill make this pasta salad taste bright and homemade.
- For extra smoky flavor, grill or char the corn before adding it to the salad.
- This pasta salad can be made up to 1 day in advance, making it perfect for potlucks, BBQs, and meal prep.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Stir before serving and add extra dressing if needed.
