Is there anything better than sinking your teeth into a sweet, juicy, corn on the cob with melted butter dripping down your chin? I don’t think there is, especially in the summertime. Pool parties, barbecues, and Fourth of July parties, all need corn on the cob to complete the meal.
Using the Instant Pot makes it so much easier to make a lot at once and there is no boiling water to worry about. It’s fast, mess-free, hands-free, and they turn out perfect every time!
Remove the kernels from the leftover cobs and freeze them for later. Then, add them to soups, chicken corn chowder, black bean salad, corn salsa, and casseroles whenever the recipe calls for corn!

- Foolproof. With just 3 minutes of cooking time, there’s little chance of messing this up! You just set it, forget it, and let the Instant Pot do the work.
- Incredible flavor. This corn on the cob Instant Pot recipe has superior flavor and comes out perfectly juicy every time.
Tips for the Best Corn on the Cob Recipe
- Picking the best corn. Look for husks that are fresh, green, and without any yellowing or brown areas. They shouldn’t be dry either. The stalk should still be nice and moist and not brown. The corn itself should be light yellow, soft, and with lots of silk wrapped around it.
- Add more corn! Fit as many cobs as you can depending on the size of your Instant Pot. An 8-quart pot can fit about 5 whole cobs. If yours is a bit smaller, you may want to snap your cobs in half.
- Leave the husks on. If you enjoy cooking the corn with the husks on, by all means go for it. Just remember to add 1 extra minute of cooking time.
- Crunchier corn. To achieve a slightly crunchier bite to your corn on the cob, reduce the cooking time by 1 minute.
- Use the warm function. When the corn is done cooking and you’ve released the pressure, you can keep them on the warm setting while serving so they don’t get cold.
Ingredients Needed
- Corn: Clean, shuck, and remove the silk from the cobs of corn.
- Water: The pressure cooker needs water to build pressure. The trapped steam is what cooks the corn to perfection.
- For serving: Butter, salt, pepper, and fresh chopped parsley.
How to Cook Corn on the Cob in Instant Pot
Step 1: Place the trivet inside the Instant Pot. Pour in 1 cup of water.
Step 2: Add cobs of corn to the trivet. Pile them up, they don’t need to be in a single layer.
Step 3: Close the lid and set the valve to the “sealing” position.
Step 4: Use the manual mode to cook on high pressure for 3 minutes. Remember, 3 minutes is the cooking time. It will still take time for pressure to build so the total time will be longer.
Step 5: Once the cooking time is up, immediately move the valve to “venting” to quickly release the pressure.
Step 6: Once the pressure is released and the pin drops, carefully remove the lid. Use tongs to remove the corn and transfer them to a serving platter.
Step 7: Serve corn on the cob with butter, salt, and pepper, and garnish with fresh parsley. Enjoy!
