Pumpkin spice latte recipe with coffee: Elevate your morning cup of coffee with this pumpkin spice latte recipe made with real pumpkin and delicious spices. It’s tastier, healthier, and cheaper than Starbucks!

Best Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe with Coffee

Around this time of year, all the pumpkin spice lovers go crazy for Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte, including me. However, if you’re also like me, you know how much unnecessary sugar and fat it contains, so making a homemade pumpkin spice latte is my favorite thing to do!

It’s easy, cost-effective, and even more deliciously pumpkin-y than what you’d get at any coffee shop. Made with canned pumpkin and pumpkin spice, this heavenly drink gives off all the fall vibes, perfectly paired with pumpkin scones, pumpkin waffles, or pumpkin muffins on cool mornings.

    Why You’ll Love This Recipe

    • Its pumpkin flavor comes from real pumpkin!
    • Perfectly spiced, just sweet enough, and deliciously creamy.
    • Easy to make and a great money-saving hack.
    • No need to wait in a Starbucks lineup anymore!

    Tips for Success

    • If you have one, use a glass mug. It’s much easier to see what’s inside!
    • You can use a homemade pumpkin purée if you have some on hand.
    • I use sweetened condensed milk because it’s sweet but also thick. However, if you prefer to make a completely non dairy version, swap it with maple syrup. It won’t be as thick, but it’ll taste just as great. Honey or brown sugar can also be used.

Ingredients for Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte

    ingredients for pumpkin latte.

Milk: Any type of milk will work for this latte. Dairy milk, like whole milk or 2%, or nondairy milk, like almond milk or oat milk, can also be used.

Canned pumpkin: Make sure it’s pure pumpkin and not pumpkin pie filling. Canned pumpkin purée does not include any additional sugar or spices.

Condensed milk: This is what makes it even more rich, creamy, and sweet!

Vanilla extract: A delicious, warm flavor addition.

Pumpkin pie spice: Use a homemade blend or a store-bought spice mix. Either way, it’s what gives the drink its warm, earthy spices.

Hot coffee: Use strong hot coffee, brewed, or 1-2 shots of espresso.

For garnish: Whipped cream and cinnamon

Step 1: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine milk, pumpkin puree, condensed milk, vanilla extract, and pumpkin pie spice. Whisk constantly until hot, but not boiling.

Step 2: Remove the saucepan from the heat. If you want a frothy finish, use an electric whisk or milk frother to whisk until frothy.

Step 3: Pour the hot coffee or espresso into a large coffee mug, then slowly pour in the pumpkin mixture, or other way around.

    Extra Fun Garnishes

Best Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe with Coffee

If you’re wanting to spruce up your pumpkin spice latte and make it a little extra pretty, you can serve it with a cinnamon stick. Not only does it look nice, but you can use it to swirl in some extra flavor.

Of course, whipped cream and cinnamon are great, but so is a drizzle of caramel sauce, sprinkles, or shaved white or dark chocolate.

    Fall Drink FAQs

When does Starbucks get pumpkin spice latte?

If you’ve ever walked into a store mid-August and noticed Halloween decorations, you’ll know that companies are way ahead of the game!

Starbucks is no different. You’ll notice the pumpkin spice latte makes an appearance usually around the third week of August.

How to make an iced pumpkin spice latte?

If you prefer your pumpkin spice latte cold, then all you’d need to do is let the coffee cool completely before mixing it with the pumpkin mixture (which should also be cooled) and serving it over ice.

Can I make this drink ahead of time?

I don’t suggest it, as it is best served just after it’s made. Good thing it doesn’t take long to whip up.

    What is in pumpkin spice?

It is a delicious blend of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves. Depending on the blend or who makes it, you may find variations to this combination.

Some might leave out the cloves, while others might leave out the allspice.
